Will Karate Get You Killed ? Martial "Arts" and Martial "Sports" have precious little to do with saving your life and the lives of your loved ones when a predator selects YOU as their prey.

Martial Arts taught in modern times are descendent from a time before the advent of ballistic weapons and before the massive decline in social mores that 21st century Americans face and before the tremendous decrease in sensitivity to violence that criminals bring to the attacks of today.
Weapons are Inevitable ! If you are attacked in America today, the odds are better than not that you will be facing a weapon. The vast majority of so called "self defense" training is empty hand technique or impractical impact weapons.

In order to survive and prevail in a criminal attack, you should engage in the most realistic preparation possible. That means weapons with projectiles, real fear, multiple attackers, low lights, confined sapce and much, much more.
Keep Your "Style" One problem with most defensive instruction is that the student is expected to conform to the style. The most effective personal combat methodology adapts to the individual. Each person has different physical, emotional, and intellectual attributes.

Our phylosophy is to adapt what we teach to a persons attributes and not the other way around. The goal of is be to maximise the use of skills that you already posess.

The most significant barrier to performance in a personal combat situation is fear. Much self defense instruction purports to develop "fear management" skills. The ability to "work through" fear is certainly important but those skills do not prevent the body's anatomical responses to fear.

Scenario based training helps minimize the PRODUCTION or fear by pre-creating neuropathways for common defense situations. This mental and physical conditioning helps sustain a person's relative calm in combat because the brain is somewhat familiar with the events that are transpiring
The closer to reality the training is and the greater the "actual' fear induced during training, the greater the conditioning and therefore the greater increase in "survivability".

Historically we tend to think of our Personal COmbat Weapons as techniques like a kick or a punch but the continiuum is much creater.
